Plus, they’re super versatile—just pick a small number of them, like 2 sets of three, play with them, and make them your own. Sometimes in a project the painters zero in on a particular pattern (like tally marks) and add it all over the place. This is cool! It provides
uniqueness to the artwork, and so should be encouraged. I use the patterns to get people started, but always remind them they can create their own ideas, respond to what is already on the canvas, or copy what others are doing - do it in another colour, in a different size, perhaps, or join in and do an area together!
The ones below focus on mark-making - add them in clusters. They are ideal for
beginners, or those who feel a bit nervous to begin (which is everyone at the start, honestly.)
