When I first created the Pattern Play Cards, I was looking for easier ways to help people make art together – even if they didn’t feel artistic.
 

They grew from my ‘Easy Pattern Play Pages’ – themed sheets with five inclusive patterns each. I used them in my projects, and so did others. They worked brilliantly.

Then I had an idea: what if I sorted them by types – like just linear patterns, or just spirals (I love spirals!), or patterns focused on circles – the shape we always start with and return to. I thought, why not give each one its own square, with its name?
 

That small idea quickly turned into a full set – one that’s now been used in murals, art rooms, meeting spaces, conferences… and on kitchen tables.
 

Vol 1 gives you 48 patterns you can:
✔️ Cut into pairs, strips of three, or individual squares
✔️ Use as-is or laminate to reuse again and again
✔️ Reprint easily – there are just six pages, so even if you don’t laminate*, it’s super simple

(*Though let’s be honest – some of us love laminating 😄)

Painters often just flick through them… and then they’re off!

Their asymmetrical accessibility seems to give people the confidence and permission to experiment and play. Others prefer to copy them carefully, building skills and rhythm – because all artists start by copying. These cards give you full permission to do just that.
