“Find Your
Courage”
(detail) Aberfoyle Park High School, Adelaide
This bold and colourful mural stretches over 6 metres across the canteen wall at Aberfoyle Park High School.
Eighteen teenage
girls created it together as part of their SACE program - earning 10 credits toward their high school diploma while discovering something even more valuable: the courage to make their mark.
Like all Pattern Play Collaborative Art projects, this mural grew in three stages:
✨ Messy Play – letting loose with giant circles and spirals on our “Go Big, Make Your Mark” day.
✨ Exploring – layering spontaneous brushstrokes, guided by Pattern Play Pages for inspiration.
✨ Bling! – the joyful finishing touches that bring everything alive.
Over six workshops, the girls used my Galaxy' colour scheme (always a favourite with teens!) to build this vibrant artwork.
But the real beauty of Find Your Courage isn’t just on the wall—it’s in the process. Each girl added her unique contribution, and together they discovered how art can spark connection, confidence, and communication.
