We created a large outdoor wall mural together over several sessions. Although I’d painted many murals with teenagers during my
years as an art teacher, this was my first time leading a community mural with adults. The experience was so energising that I knew instantly — this was my new passion: sharing the joy of creating together.
Â
All my collaborative, social art projects unfold through three stages — Messy Playing, Exploring, and BLING.
Â
For this mural, we began with vibrant underpainting in red, yellow, and blue. During Messy Playing, we added circles, ovals, and spirals of all sizes, moving freely across the wall as we painted together. This stage always brings out spontaneous creativity and helps everyone feel comfortable contributing to a large shared
artwork.
Â
By overlapping shapes and building on each other’s ideas, we created a sense of shared creative confidence that brought the mural to life.
Inclusive Social Art is all about connection, communication, and building confidence. The beauty of this
process lies not only in the finished artwork but in the shared experience of making something meaningful together. Each person’s unique contribution adds to the magic — a reminder that wonderful things happen when we create side by side.

P.S. Every studio needs a little muse. Today, yours might just be a 50% off code — wander
through my product descriptions and see what sparks your next idea - they're all available whenever you need them, and are all economically priced to be accessible to people like you and me. (I created them for myself and use them in EVERY project I do - paintings on canvas or murals.)Â
Â
NB: March is the final month of my Welcome50
subscriber code (50% off singular resources). From April, the standard subscriber welcome gift will be 25% off - so if you’ve been meaning to use it, now’s the time.
