That’s the magic of Creativity Loves Constraints — one simple prompt can open up a world of exploration.
Giving people a simple direction such as
“Paint three circles” is an easy, accessible starting point. A circle can be a dot, a blob, an oval, or a sun; it can become a cluster of dots, start as acircle then swirl into a spiral, or repeat as ripples that could also overlap the edge into a playful series of arches.
That one circle prompt = many creative explorations, guiding painters toward easy creativity. Add the two extra prompts of “Paint BIG and small” and “Paint your set of three in the three colours on
offer” — and you’ve suddenly multiplied the possibilities!
Giving a clear instruction FREES people to start - and after they start, they feel their creative confidence emerge - they see what the others are doing, and start to explore. Try it, it's awesome to watch this unfold!
